I recently bought a Paul Reed Smith Singlecut in Korina wood. A very nice guitar. However, it developed a problem. It was a little tricky to tune, and everytime I bent the G string it would end up flat.
I suspected that some, or at least one of the tuners was at fault. I contacted my friendly dealer and was advised to bring it back to the shop for a check. To solve the problem they filed the nut slots to make sure they weren’t too tight and put a little bit of vaseline in each nut slot to prevent any snagging. Haven’t had a problem since.
The PRS website states that the SE series of guitars all ship with 9 gauge strings. This may be so, but I replaced the 9s with 10s which had a real impact. Now it just feels right.
